  • The detailed specifications about the device claim a resolution of 4000×2040 pixels or 2000×2040 per eye.

The PlayStation 5 has announced its recent version VR headset launching soon in 4K. With the unrevealed name of the device to be surfaced, Sony has reportedly shared the details of this upcoming product with its collaborators.

The detailed specifications pertaining to this product claims a resolution of 4000×2040 pixels or 2000×2040 per eye, an adjustment dial separated by the lens, and gaze tracking capable of foveated rendering. The headset is incorporated with the motor to be used by the developers to provide feedback directly.

The development of the next-gen wired VR headset for PS5 was under process after the confirmation by Sony to release it in 2021. The upcoming device controllers will have analogue sticks with finger position sensing. Also, the resistive triggers can push back on being pressed, similar to the PS5 DualSense controller.

The media reports also suggest that the Next-Gen PlayStation VR will have extra pixels.  According to the sources, the upcoming headset will be capable of tracking an eye of a user for the foveated rendering to get the sharp images only where a user sees. In contrast, the images will be blurred in the peripheral vision. This helps in the simulation according to an eye’s perception, and that lets the consoles function well, not rendering the views in higher resolution. Other creative things that can be done using eye-tracking include the creation of realistic avatars and more such things.

One of the media reports asserts that the upcoming VR headset will work on inside-out tracking, an upgraded version of the original re-purposed PlayStation Move system. The inside-out tracking system uses the cameras provided on the outer surface of the headset, which can figure out your whereabouts inside a room.

The above speculations regarding the upcoming VR device make it a prominent accessory for PS5 users.
